There is plenty of excitement at the Danny Scott Sports Complex this week, as Temple College Baseball and Softball will take on North Central Texas College in Region V North baseball and softball action to start the final month of the regular season.
- UPDATE: Following rainouts earlier in the week, the Leopards and Lady Leopards will travel to NCTC Thursday for two games apiece.
- On Saturday, TC Baseball hosts NCTC with doubleheader game times at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
- On Sunday, TC Softball will host Gainesville to complete their four-game series with the Lions. Game times are scheduled for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

TC Baseball takes three of four from Vernon
The Temple College Baseball team looked to improve their standing in Region V North as they took on the Vernon Chaparrals.
The Leopards won the series, 3-1, by sweeping the Chaparrals at their own diamond and splitting with the Chaps at the Danny Scott Sports Complex.
In Vernon on Wednesday, the Leopards won by scores of 8-3 and 7-3.
In the first game, Temple scored six runs over the first four innings and held the Chaps’ offense in check.
Andrew Ermis had a homer and five runs batted in, Mason Ashlock scored three runs and Trent Rucker added two scores.
Mason Peters scattered seven hits over five innings, allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out three on the hill for the win. John Michael Ramirez allowed an earned run, walked a batter, and struck out two.
In the second game, the Leopards rallied from two runs down with two runs to tie the game in the fifth and locked up the win with four runs in the top of the eighth, powered by a three-run blast from Ermis.
Ashlock, Wilson Woodcox and Kolvin Davis each had two hits as part of the Leopards’ nine-hit attack.
Cole Marthiljohni pitched five innings, allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out nine before handing the ball off to Zak Johnson in the sixth. Johnson picked up the win in relief, having allowed three hits, walked two and struck out three.
On Saturday, the Leopards split with the Chaparral at the Danny Scott Sports Complex. TC won game one, 5-0, while Vernon took game two, 8-2.
In game one, Rucker, Ashlock, Cole Tabor, and Trent Rucker each had two hits as part of Temple’s 10-hit barrage.
TC got a combined six-hitter from Garrett Baumann and Zak Johnson to shut out, Baumann scattered six hits, walked one and struck out four over six innings. Johnson allowed one hit in an inning pitched.
In the second game, the Leopards took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning. However, the Chaparrals scored three times in the top of the sixth and added four more in the eighth to register the six-run win for Vernon.
TC collected five hits, with Rucker having scored twice. The Leopards drew seven walks.
Five Leopards pitched in the game, with Colin Huspen taking the loss.
Temple collected 21 runs and 31 hits in the four-game series.
Ermis had two homers and eight runs batted in to lead the Leopards. Woodcox had six hits, which included three doubles, and Ashlock added five.
The pitching staff allowed 14 earned runs and 38 hits over 32 innings, and struck out 27.
TC Baseball exited the weekend with a 23-16 record overall and 9-11 record in Region V North.
No. 6 TC Softball sweeps Vernon
The Temple College Softball team took on Vernon College this past week in Region V North play.
The Leopards started the series with a doubleheader sweep at the Danny Scott Sports Complex, nabbing wins of 4-0 and 9-4.
Haley Crawford dealt a six-hitter in the opener, having struck out seven and walked four over seven innings for the shutout victory.
Channing Lipe was hit by a pitch that forced home Emily Delgado in the fourth inning, Lily Garcia homered to start the fifth inning, and Allie Cruz added a pinch-hit two-run single in the sixth inning to account for the four runs.
In game two, Adelyn Becerra drilled a homer, scored four times, doubled twice, and drove in two runs to lead the 12-hit offensive charge for TC.
Kennan Nunamaker and Alyssa Budisalovich each had multi-hit games for TC.
Delgado picked up the win in the circle, having pitched six innings, allowed two earned runs on six hits, walked four, and struck out seven. Hannah Calhoun struck out two in an inning of relief.
On Saturday, the Leopards completed the sweep with a pair of wins in Vernon. The scores of the games were 12-3 and 12-3.
In game one, Becerra continued her torrid stretch at the plate with four hits and a run batted in. Budisalovich added three hits and three RBI, and Garcia and Cruz added two runs batted in each in the win.
Crawford logged her second win of the week, tossing 4 2/3 innings, allowed three runs on four hits, walked four, and struck out three. Calhoun pitched an inning, walked one, and struck out one.
In game two, Temple scored three times in the first and second innings and a six-spot in the third inning to take an early 12-0 lead.
Becerra went 2-of-2 with a homer, four RBI, and scored three times. Cruz and Kennan Nunamaker each had two hits, and Garcia and Cruz each scored twice.
Calhoun picked up the win in the circle, having pitched three innings, allowed an unearned run on four hits, walked five, and struck out two. Audrie Sayas pitched two scoreless innings.
As a team in the four-game sweep, Temple collected 42 hits and drove in 32 runs, while having scored 34 in the series.
In the four-game series, Becerra had ten hits (seven for extra bases), scored nine runs, homered twice, and drove in seven runs. Budisalovich had seven hits and four RBI, Garcia had four hits, a homer and six RBI, Nunamaker had six hits, Cruz had five hits and four RBI, and Delgado added four hits and four RBI.
Crawford now has 19 wins on the season, fourth nationally, and improved her earned run average to 2.60. Delgado has won 15 games and is tied for 11th in the nation.
TC Softball exited the week with an overall record of 39-9 and 17-7 in Region V North. Their NJCAA Division I Top 25 ranking this week went from No. 6 to No. 5.
